Frozen block separation is a critical step in the thawing process. The SplitX block separator is ideal for breaking large fish blocks into manageable sizes without damaging the product.
The robust, efficient design and gentle product handling helps maintain the characteristic properties of the product while reducing thawing time. Less thawing time helps maintain product quality and increase efficiency in the thawing process.
The SplitX separates the product by using six cylinders that press the block at different angles as it moves through the machine. This innovative approach maintains product quality and delivers higher yield at the further processing stage.
SplitX minimizes the risk of product freezing together again, which is always a risk with large blocks. Fish fits better into the thawing system and becomes easier to process.
Keeping full process control is easier with the SplitX. It enables the system to run with consistency, eliminating the need to slow the process down while entering larger blocks. With blocks separated into manageable sizes the process flow is maintained and more fish can enter the system per production unit.
Ergonomically designed, the block separator creates a more efficient infeed process with a better working environment, while minimizing manual labor.
Designed to separate frozen blocks of ground fish, salmon and trout, the SplitX is easy to adjust to different product types. The SplitX has four narrow infeed belts with a nub top surface and three long push bars, each operated by two air cylinders.
Suitable for blocks up to 1 meter long, 60 cm wide and 12 cm thick, the SplitX has a throughput of 4 blocks per minute. Blocks enter the machine facing the conveying direction at a minimum core temperature of -10°C / 14°F. Changing between different block heights is easy and takes only five minutes with simple tools.
A sensor in front of the separation section monitors the block entering the machine and makes sure the conveyor belts stop in the right position – adjusting the SplitX machine automatically to different block lengths. The SplitX counts the number of blocks passing through and controls the desired amount of fish in each thawing section.
Gentle product handling is integral to the design of the SplitX, as each block type is separated with the right pressure. The air cylinders generate a force of about 700kg each at an air pressure of 6bar. A pressure regulator inside the machine will allow to adjust the pressure if soft or delicate product is used.
Sold as a stand-alone unit or as an add-on to the RoteX Thawing® solution, the SplitX is ergonomic, efficient and easy to use.The machine is available in a left or right version, where the product is conveyed to the left or right side of the worker, depending on customer need.
The separating function can be turned off, making the machine flexible in different scenarios, such as when the line is being used for thawing single frozen fish.
