Increased business opportunities inRussia
The decision to expand in Russia came as a result of increased business opportunities in the area. Skaginn 3X is currently completing it’s first large project in Russia, an onshore fish processing plant on the Kuril Island of Shikotan. The plant is set to be completed within 2018 and will have the capacity to process over 900 metric tons of fish per day.
The company signed a contract for a second onshore processing plant recently, which is scheduled to be completed in 2019/2020 in Russia Far East.
Skaginn 3X is also in negotiations with several companies to supply turnkey solutions for offshore processing, ranging from smaller vessels to super trawlers, pelagic, whitefish and shellfish.
“When the opportunity arose to work for Skaginn 3X, I saw a chance to be part of something truly unique. To work for an innovative technology company on the frontier of a processing revolution that is creating a new era for food processing, where quality, efficiency and maximisation of our clients limited resources is at the forefront. I was eager to take part in Russia´s modernising program for the fisheries.” Says PéturJakob Pétursson, Regional Sales Manager for Russia and CIS.
Focus on end product quality
Although there is a considerable distance between Iceland and Russia, advancements in technology and infrastructure have made international business at this level possible and profitable.
Icelanders have had to differentiate themselves from other rival´s with higher TAC (Total Allowable Catch). They have done so by focusing on maximising the quality and yield of their products, putting them at the forefront of processing technology.
“I´m looking forward to being a part of the upcoming new era of fishery processing in Russia.” Says Pétur.
An excellent addition to a growing team
Pétur will be an important addition to the Skaginn 3X team and play an integral part in further developing the Russian market.
“We have seen a significant increase in the Russian market and feel Pétur’s experience will help us further develop the good relationship we have with our Russian clients and create new opportunities in the area.” Says Jón Birgir Gunnarsson, Marketing and Sales Manager, Skaginn 3X.
